Anyone who wants to use excellent word processing, spreadsheet or presentation software but does not want to pay for it.

Course Overview

Learn how to install and use Sun's Open Office free alternative to Microsoft Office.

Course Prerequisites

This is an intermediate class and requires at least completion of the Introduction to Computers class.

You will get more out of this class if you know how to use Microsoft Office products Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Course Details

This four hour (two-day) workshop will teach you to:

  • Find, download and install the free program Open Office, which contains very powerful word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, drawing and database programs
  • Introduction to the word processing program (like Word) to write letters and documents
  • Introduction to the spreadsheet program (like Excel) to perform calculations
  • Introduction to the presentation program (like PowerPoint) to prepare presentations or other applications mixing text, pictures and graphics
  • Introduction to the drawing and database programs
